
Jim Williamson formed Williamson Consulting, Inc. in 1998 to continue his information technology consultation as an independent practitioner. Jim's career, which spans more than thirty years, has focused on the application of information systems to support the effective management of non-profit organizations. Since 1979, he has worked exclusively in the area of information systems to support the fund raising efforts of these organizations.
Jim's primary goal with Williamson Consulting is to assist institutions, and their development offices in particular, face the complex issues related to information systems and their effective management. Among the range of services Jim offers are information technology reviews which can include assessments of current systems and the review of business processes, staffing plans, and organizational structure. Jim also can provide assistance with the acquisition of a new fund raising information system, including requirements analysis, the development of the RFP, the assessment of vendor proposals, and implementation planning.
Prior to forming Williamson Consulting, Jim was Senior Vice President for Information Services and Managing Director, of Grenzebach Glier & Associates, a national philanthropic management consulting firm. At the firm, Jim delivered consultation services to a wide range of non-profit organizations with an emphasis on higher education. Jim also oversaw the firm's Technology Services Group.
Prior to joining GG&A, Mr. Williamson was CEO of JSI FundRaising Systems, a leading national fund-raising software firm. Created in 1991, JSI has served more than 1,000 clients throughout the United States and internationally.
From 1979 to 1991, Mr. Williamson was CEO of the Williamson Group, one of the leading firms in the nation to apply computer technology to fund raising. The firm focused on the development, installation, and training of computer systems for fund raising, fund accounting, and other administrative functions for non-profit organizations. Before establishing the Williamson Group, Mr. Williamson was engaged in independent consulting, primarily for the public sector and for Public System Evaluation, Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Mr. Williamson is a frequent speaker at national and regional fund-raising conferences of CASE, NAIS, and AFP (formerly NSFRE). He is a member of the Board of Directors of a number of non-profit organizations, including the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST).
